LS1 Enhancements

As of 12/04, my car has the following mods:

Power Mods:

Suspension / Durability Mods:

Appearance Modifications:

I ordered my Moser from Quick Time Performance. Options are 3 channel ABS, 30 spline axles, Eaton posi, heavy-duty cover/girdle and 4.10 gears.

Here is the rear prior to me painting it flat black. These are shipped bare, so I recommend some paint to keep the rust away.

This is where I mounted the Hurst line loc. (top)

The line loc was purchased from Summit Racing (part number # HUU-1745000 and Summit installation kit). (top)

The control for the line-loc, as well as the manual over-ride for the electric fans, were installed in the ashtray in the center console. (top)

I used the B & M Ripper shifter (blue base)with the supplied bolts to adjust the positive stops. (top)

The shifter in the middle is the optional (from the factory) Hurst shifter.

The shifter on the left is the stock shifter. (top)

This is an Autometer shift-lite which I also purchased from Summit (part # ATM-5340). I installed it in the vent for stealth appeal. (top)

UPDATE: i use stock mass air meter as of now...

The Grannatelli Mass Air Meter (right) is bigger than stock (left). (top)

I bought it used from Mario. It helped my car gain an additional 6.5 hp and about 7 TQ (see My Dyno). (top)

These are Borla carbon fiber exhaust tips (3 inch in, dual 3 inch tips out). I bought these from www.carparts.com. (top)

A great modification to any 300 hp ponycar is to acquire foul weather transportation. In my case, that comes in the form of a 1991 Ford Bronco, Eddie Bauer edition with 4 wheel drive and 5.0 V-8.

Sold the bronco and got this escort:

This is the perma-cool power steering cooler that i had installed. it is a necessity for any prolonged aggressive driving. I installed it in front of the condensor. You tap into the low pressure return line. part # is 1007. (top)

The free ram air mod increases 1/4 mile trap speeds by at least 1 mph and decreases e.t by at least 1/10th of a second. (top)

Another look at the free ram air mod. (top)

Thank you, Alan, for helping me install this manifold!

On the left is the LS6 intake manifold. Opposite is the stock LS1 intake.

The most obvious difference is the absense of the EGR. I removed the EGR and still had no problem passing emissions testing. (top)

This shot of the underneath of the intakes shows that the LS6 version is flat which translates into more volume, which means more airflow, which means more HP!!!!

The two black rubber circles are the knock sensors.

(top)

The slight discoloration of the intake ports are caused by oil.

This cam is mild enough to use in a daily driver, yet wild enough to help propel my car to mid 11 second 1/4 mile passes! It is sold by MTI.

It was installed by Jay Fisher Pontiac. They really get into their work!!

Lakewood Driveshaft Loop, part # 620-18022, was the only loop that would fit over my big Y pipe.

Energy Suspension Transmission Mounts, Heavy-duty polyurethane transmission mount. part # 355-3-1108G

This part stopped my Y pipe from banging my floorboards. I did not use the "preload spacer plate" that was included. I also grinded the two "nipples"

so that all sides were square. The "nipple" is the rounded part in the above picture that is next to the spacer plate.

UPDATE 2004: I broke 2 of these tranny mounts. I am now going to use Prothane poly tranny mount.

Spohn Performance Adjustable Torque Arm, transmission mounted (part # 399). This thing is BEEFY!!! Puts the LG unit to shame.
