Update 10/2004

I bought a SLP dual/dual exhaust because it is supposed to be very quiet. But with no cats, the car made an obnoxious tone between 2000 and 2500 RPM, commonly referred to as RASP. So in an attempt to get rid of the rasp, i installed an 18 inch Dynomax bullet muffler. So in essence, I am running with TWO mufflers!!! the bullet muffler made it necessary to move the cutout from the middle of the Intermediate pipe (I-pipe ) which is pictured above, to the end of the I-pipe, right before the tubing bends up and over the axle. When the cutout is opened, the tone is deeper than a normal cutout because now it goes through the bullet muffler before being dumped. But when the cutout is closed/capped, the exhaust is dead quiet, like a lexus. Maybe not that quiet, but maybe if the Lexus had over 470 hp it would sound similar to what mine sounds like when capped. You can notice in the pics below that after the bullet muffler, I had a 3 bolt flange installed; this will allow me to remove the entire cat-back/muffler for those times when i want to drop 50 lbs! There is a new hanger right before this 3 bolt flange to keep the I-pipe from dropping when the rear section is removed. The fun part is being able to control the cutout from the interior at the flick of a switch. Mufflex did all the work and they are highly recommended.
